The Jericho Babies

At the end of August we received numerous calls that apparently there is a bunny with a broken leg at Jericho Beach. Jericho Beach is one of the known dump sites where people let their rabbits go if they no longer want them so it wasn't a surprise that we got a call about the rabbits there. We went out there and spend several hours looking for it but unfortunately we couldn't locate the one with a broken leg.

While we were out there we received another phone call from somebody who said that a bunny gave birth below the tide line the night before and that they took two of the babies and moved them into some bushes away from the water. After spending about an hour crawling through the bushes trying to find the babies we were successful! We also tried to locate the other babies but it looked like the tide swept them away.

We didn't have a nursing mom which lessens the chance of survival drastically. Yet Leona tried her best and bottle fed the wee ones. Unfortunately they both passed away after a few days.
