Missy

In January 2006 we received a call from a woman in Vancouver who was looking for help for her rabbit Missy. Missy was an older rabbit and we were told she had a golf ball sized lump on her side. Missy used to be an indoor bunny but now that she got older and missed the litter box once in a while, the landlord demanded that Missy has to stay in a hutch outside. The woman couldn't afford to take Missy to the vet and so she asked us if we could take Missy in.

When we went to the house to pick up Missy, we were shocked to see that her lump was actually the size of a grapefruit. Missy was not in a good mood and attacked Lisa a few times. We didn't blame her at all, the lump was so big it clearly affected her whenever she moved.

We took Missy home to Simone. We quickly realized that she couldn't seem to get comfortable so we took a piece of fleece and came up with a bed. Missy quickly figured out what was happening and got comfortable, probably the first time in weeks or months.

Having a lot of experience with rabbits, we had our suspicion that the vet visit would not be a happy one and unfortunately Dr. Upjohn confirmed this - Missy had a very aggressive type of cancer.

We made sure to spoil her rotten for a few days, Missy got as much junk food as she could eat, petted her and gave her kisses. Then we let her go. After the injection Missy started to lick us and then passed away in Lisa's arms.
