Rudy

In June 2006 a shelter asked us for help with Rudy the rat.

He was found as a stray in Burnaby and was brought to the shelter about a month prior and went to a foster home because he had a bumblefoot and required special care. Unfortunately the foster home could no longer take care of him and the treatment didn't seem to work. We were happy to help this beautiful boy out.

When we picked him up we were shocked to see just how bad his bumblefoot was:

We had to treat his foot several times a day but Rudy was the best patient everybody could wish for. He didn't make a peep and let us handle him any way we needed too. He was just the sweetest, squishiest boy.

Two weeks into the treatment, we saw a huge improvement - The bumblefoot was maybe 1/3 of its original size:

And we had even more to celebrate - Rudy had a forever home! A wonderful woman who adopted several rats from us before fell head over heels in love with this sweet boy. Rudy couldn't ask for a better home! He was spoiled rotten, had rattie friends to play with and humans who simply adored him. Unfortunately Rudy passed away a few weeks ago due to old age. He is terribly missed by a lot of people. He was one special boy!
