Snaggletooth

Snaggletooth was given to us by a local shelter in December 2005 where he had come in as a stray. He was given his name by the vet tech since his teeth were so bad.

He was such a tiny little dwarf with a huge head. He was incredibly sweet and would give you little kisses.

He needed to have his front teeth clipped as they were like a snaggletooth tiger. When we called the vet to check on him it turned out that not only did he have bad front teeth, most of his molars were missing as well which explained alot - All he ate was baby food. Even when we chopped up veggies etc, he'd take them in, roll them around a bit and spit them back out. We initially thought that maybe he had molar spurs but turns out he simply had hardly any molars left. We have no idea how he survived out there all by himself. We were glad that he was found!

Over the next few weeks we pureed him all his food and he ate well but unfortunately since he couldn't eat hay which is the most important part of a rabbit's diet, he had reoccuring GI stasis. During a really bad case of GI stasis our vet also discovered a lump in his neck area. Further examination revealed that Snaggletooth had a very aggressive type of cancer that had already spread throught his little body and so we made the very painful decision of putting him to sleep.

Snaggletooth was only with us for a few weeks but he touched many people. RIP Snaggletooth!
