The Orphans

In March 2006 we received a call from a shelter in the Lower Mainland. Earlier that day somebody had brought in 4 orphaned baby bunnies. One had since passed away and they were looking for a nursing mom.

The babies were born outside in the wild. Their mom was dumped by her owners and just like many other abandoned rabbits out there, she got pregnant and gave birth to a litter of babies. Unfortunately she and some of the other babies were killed by coyotes, a cat and crows. The remaining babies would not have survived if a caring person hadn't found them and brought them to the shelter.

As it happened, we just had a nursing mom with babies that were about the same age and wonderful Celeste took the remaining 3 babies in as if they were her own.

Padfoot, Acorn and Roo all thrived under her care and grew into some beautiful bunnies. Roo and Acorn have since been adopted but Padfoot is still in foster care waiting for his forever home.
