Wild Bunny

In July we saw a posting on a message board where somebody was asking for help for a baby bunny. Her cats and dogs found a nest of baby bunnies and they brought this one into the house, "playing" with it, throwing it through the air etc. The owner tried to give it some apple but then she decided put it out in the pasture again as she wasn't sure what to do only to have her dogs and cats bring it back in again the next day.

We offered to take it in as once again we had a nursing mom and we were hoping she would accept the little one as her own.

When the baby bunny got here we realized that this was actually a true wild bunny, not a domestic bunny that was abandoned. Wild rabbits don't do well in captivity at all, they get extremely stressed. The little one was already cold when it got here and it had an injured leg.

We made it a little nest and it warmed up. We didn't want to handle it a lot and were making arrangements for it to go to a wildlife rescue.

Unfortunately the little one passed away less than 24 hours after coming into rescue.
